Location and Site Guide
How to select a good location?
To select a good location for a Cable Water Park you need to look for:
  • A good climate. You should have a minimum of 70 non-rainy
    warm days in a season.
  • A big population. More than 300,000 citizens or visitors in a
    circle of 15 - 30 km  (10 - 20 mile).
  • A sound sporting and recreation culture.
  • A solid population purchasing power.

How to select a good site?
The following is a guide to select a good site for Cable Water Park:
  • An existing road should approach the starting position.
  • A water area of 365 x 110 meters (1200 x 360 feet) is needed for a
standard size Cable. The water area can be smaller. For example
    140 x 70 meters (460 x 230 feet). Water must be deeper then 1
meter (4 feet) for safety of skiers and riders. Water shouldn't be
deeper than 20 meters (65 feet) to avoid more robust and more
expensive pillows. A lake or a sea front could be used. It is
possible to make an artificial lake, as well.
  • A water quality should be good for swimming.
  • The water area should not be exposed to waves, which is to
considered for sea or big lakes installations. It is possible to build
a waves protection, but that would increase the cost.
  • An infrastructure (electricity, water and disposal systems) needs
to be close to the Starting Platform. If the infrastructure is far away
from the Starting Platform it could significantly increase the cost.
  • A starting position area, for Ski Platform and Club House, should
be minimum 20m wide. The area should have a soil type that
    allows standard building structures.
  • An existing car parking, or space for it, should be close to the
    Staring Platform.
  • It is beneficial if an busy promenade is behind the Starting
Platform. As a big part of the revenue comes from cafe and shop
sales, the Platform should be were the crowd is. Even better if the
promenade is busy during the night.
  • It is beneficial if an existing beach is next to the Starting Platform.
An already established and crowded beach would make your
revenues stable and solid. The crowd from the beach is easy to
attract for skiing as the Cable Park is in their vicinity.
  • It is beneficial if there are water sport activities close by.

Simple rule: Go where the crowd is!
